Black and white wedding scrapbook page heritage

Why I Think it is important to preserve Memories.

This week would have been my Mum's Birthday so I have spent some time reminising about her.

This is a layout of Mum and Dads Wedding that I created just after Mum passed away.  Before she died the Mother I had know most of my life had long gone as her demenia progressed but it was probably not until just after her death that I realised how much about her life especially her early years that I did not know or could not remember. With the help of her sister I have managed to fill in some of the gaps and I try note any recollections I have before I forget them.

I think it is a wonderful legacy to create a scrapbook or any record of your own or family life to tell a story where you can share memories of treasured moments and everyday life with friends and family. I regret that I did not start this process much earlier in my life and I look at the most wonderful pages Kristy creates about her children and family how lucky they are that she will give them the story of their lives.

I would urge everyone to make notes about the special people around them or better still ask them to make notes about themselves even if you are not intending to use them in the near future. If sadly you are in a situation where you know time is short to collect information I often suggest you use a tag to record individual recollections in your own writing or better still in theirs.

Give some thought to those people close to you and what you would like to do to preserve their special unique history.

This layout was created by using Tim Holtz Rosettes and Elegant Flourishes dies, a Martha Stewart round the page punch and scoreboard and Kaisercraft After Five paper collection.
