Adding Touches of Gold

Written by Kristy on . Posted in Blog

Hi everyone,

Over the new few weeks we will be sharing ideas for adding touches of gold to your pjoects, whether they are off the page, cards, books, albums or scrapbook pages the products and ideas will work for them all.  Gold is a really on trend and popular colour to use at the moment and is always a Christmas classic.

For todays card I used the Tarnished Brass Distress Paint brushed directly onto kraft cardstock to create a faux woodgrain look.  This is pretty easy to do but it is best to start by making sure that the dauber is primed by gently pressing onto a craft sheet and then the paint is ready to be swiped lightly over the card.  Start off lightly as you always add more later.  I will share scrapbook page background created using the excess colour on the craft sheet later in the week.

For my card I cut the card base before applying te paint but you could do it before or after.  Distress paint is a great product before it doesn' take long to dry and if you use it lightly it doesn't buckle or warp the card.  I used one of the new Kaisercraft cardfront dies to die cut the heart card front out of one of the A Touch of Gold Collection by Kaisercraft (you can get the cardfront dies in butterflies and stars too).  I set aside all the hearts (which I have used on another card that I will share soon too) and adhered it ot the card base.  I also used the distress paint dauber swiped across the edges of the card, in the same way that I would use an inkpad.

A couple of collectables, a strip of patterned paper also from the A Touch of Gold collection, some Tim Holtz twine and a couple of Teresa Collins Sequins finished off my card.

Thanks for stopping by and be sure to come back for more ideas for adding touches of gold to your projects.
