Hi Everyone, Welcome to Stef's papercrafts blog.

We hope to share lots of projects, new products, ideas and inspiration with you.

What's New in December

Written by Stef on . Posted in Blog

Hi everyone,

We hope you enjoyed last week's Christmas ideas on the blog and facebook page.  We will still be showing some more Christmas themed projects in December but for today we wanted to let you know what is new in store so Kristy has made a short video showing just some of the new products but this doesn't cover everything.  We have the new Poppy dies in store, the latest Kaisercraft Collections, some lovely new Graphic 45 papers, some SNAP life products by Simple Stories, some new Tim HOltz dies and new Sizzix Christmas Tree dies.

We also wanted to let you know that Kristy will be in store next Saturday morning giving an introductory session about copic markers.  This will suit beginners or people who have questions or who are interested in copic markers and you will be able to have a go at using the markers.  We will not be making a specific project.  For people who have attended sessions with Kristy before, she will be covering information she has provided in the past.  However we are tentatively planning to run a class in between Christmas and New Year where she will show some new ideas for using your copic markers.

Thanks for stopping by,

Stef

PS.  We are still having some intermittent issues loading videos so here is the link for the video

5 Days in December - Day 5

Written by Stef on . Posted in Christmas/Seasonal

Hi everyone,

Today is the last of our "5 Days in December".  We have got some handmade Christmas Crackers to show you today.  These were created using a handmade template and some gorgeous Christmas papers.  We hope that you have enjoyed the week and maybe got some ideas for some Christmas projects of your own.

Don't forget if you are stuck for a present idea, that we have gift vouchers in store to make your Christmas shopping easier and if you want to come in and learn how to make the crackers we are having a class tommorrow morning.  If you are interested but are not able to make it contact Stef at Southern Stationery via email or phone.

Kristy will be back next week with a scrapbook layout using some beautiful My Minds Eye Papers.

Thanks for stopping by,

Stef

5 Days in December - Day 4

Hello Everyone,

Today we are showing you some handmade Christmas Ornaments using Kaisercraft Wooden Shapes and also Dusty Attic Chipboard.  The ornaments were made in different ways, by using the Emboss It Dabber and then using assorted embossing powders and then heating it, and also by painting with glimmer glam.  Embossing powders are really starting to regain popularity.  You could easily spray these with different mists or spray inks as well or just apply ink directly from your ink pads to the ornaments without doing any embossing.

We haven't done this with these ornaments but you could easily put some patterned paper on the back on the back of the circular ornaments and also cut a photo to be circular and stick it onto the patterned paper. (TIP: If you haven't got a circle cutter or circle dies you can just glue your paper to the ornament and use your craft knife to cut around the edges.) This would be a great way to personalise your ornaments and would make a great little gift for doting grandparents :)

We will add another couple of photos of ornaments over on our facebook page.

Thanks for stopping by.

Sizzix Christmas Tree decorated with Alcohol Inks

Hi Everyone,

Welcome to Day 3.  Today we are showing you the Sizzix Emboss and Die Cut - Christmas Tree #2.  If you haven't made your Christmas cards yet this would be great to make a bunch of cards in a hurry.  You could keep things clean and simple or more detailed depending on your style.

For this card I have used Foil Sheets by Tim Holtz and stuck it to some white card then cut and embossed it.  Then I have applied alcohol inks and then when the alcohol inks had dried I applied black archival ink over the top.

The doily was cut out of bazzill card using the Couture Creations Tranquil Lace Doily Die and then inked with Pine Needles Distress Ink.  The sentiment is from the Holiday Says Clear Stamp Set by Hero Arts.  I gave the card a bit more definition by drawing a border with a white gel pen.  This is a great tip for adding a little something extra to your cards that is simple to do.

We have got some other examples of using the foil sheets and also a relatively new product Mirror Sheets (this is exactly like a mirror but card stock - very cool!) So check out the facebook page later in the day.

If you want to see the picture in a larger size just click on it.

Thanks for stopping and be sure to come back tommorrow for another Christmas idea.

5 Days in December - Day 2

Hi everyone,

Today I am showing you a tag that has been decorated and hung on the Christmas Tree, but if you turn it around you can see the pocket for a little gift card ( I have just slipped a paper business card I have so that you can see the size and how the gift car would fit).  There is space on the bottom of the pocket to write your Chirstmas message.

We occasionally give gift cards but I always worry about them getting lost under the Christmas Tree or even thrown out with the wrapping paper after the pressies have been opened, so this is a great way to keep your gift card safe and also make it a bit more personal by making the tag.  Another bonus is that it looks pretty on the tree.

This tag was made using tea dye, crushed olive and peeled paint distress inks, some Websters ribbon, some twine and a couple of pieces from the collectables pack of the Kaisercraft collections Merry and Bright and Just Believe.  This tag came together pretty quickly so you could easily make a bunch of these if you give a few gift cards.

I'll put up another example over on the facebook page later in the day.  Just click on the button at the top of the blog to go to the Stefs Papercrafts Facebook Page.

Thanks for stopping by.  I'll be back tommorrow with a project using alcohol inks, foil tape and mirror board.

5 Days in December - Day 1

Written by Kristy on . Posted in Christmas/Seasonal

Hi everyone,

Welcome to our 5 days of Christmas ideas.  Today we are showing you some personalised gift bags.  I have kept the designs really simple as in December time can get a bit short!  You could definitely add more detail to these projects if you chose.

For the first bag I have used a both Cocoa glimmermist and Dylusions Spray Ink - Pillar Box Red to colour the big.  This bag has a lovely shimmer but also a slightly vintage look.  I have used some stickers from Kaisercrafts Twig and Berry collection and one a the tags from the same collection.  All of the Kaisercraft Christmas Collections include a 12x12 piece of paper that is made up of assorted sizes of tags.  The paper is perforated and is a good thickness so it is easy to tear the tags apart.

For the second bag I have used some brighter colours.  This bag was sprayed with Dylusions Spray Inks - Cut Grass and Key Lime over the 5x8 Dylusions Starry Starry Night Stencil.  When it had dried I used stickers and a tag from the Mint Twist Collection.

Later in the day, over on the facebook page I will show a bag decorated with slightly less traditional colours.
